Elden Ring and The Lands Between is a vastly expansive realm with terrifying foes to fend off and potent rewards to gather. These blessings come in a variety of sizes and shapes; some are consumables like runes while others, like weapons, are a combination of both.

Remembrances are one such item that performs nearly equivalent to boss souls in the Dark Souls video game series. When you obtain the Remembrance, you have a choice between two possibilities to aid in character development, which is what makes them so potent.

Let’s get started by learning everything you need to know about the Remembrance of the Grafted and what you can get when trading the Remembrance after receiving it. There are many different Remembrances that you can acquire in a single playthrough of Elden Ring.

What The Remembrance Of The Grafted Is And Where You Get It

The Remembrance of the Grafted is a consumable item you receive after defeating the boss Godrick the Grafted. Once obtained, you can trade it for one of two weapons to equip. The first of these weapons is the fist weapon called the Grafted Dragon, while the second is called the Axe of Godrick.

We’ll be discussing these unique weapons and what to do with them later on in this article because we can only start thinking about what to do with them once we’ve defeated Godrick the Grafted in the first place.

Who Is Godrick the Grafted In Elden Ring’s Lore?

Godrick was able to insult Malenia the Severed at a certain point in the conversation. The two engaged in combat close to the Gatefront Ruins, but Malenia quickly prevailed, forcing him to apologise at her feet. Godrick was humiliated by Malenia, who was still alive. A greatsword monument was erected to commemorate the battleground.

Far from his godly origins, Godrick imitated other underprivileged Golden Lineage members and learned the dreadful and abhorrent art of grafting, attaching parts of other people to his own body to compensate for his weakness. Godrick took the initiative to take Tarnished, attach their limbs and legs to himself, and improve his personal support staff.

He finally replaced the majority of his body with a troll’s, allowing him to support more appendages. He even acquired the dragon’s remains, which he then suggested to join.

Godrick still had dreams of returning to the Capital in splendour despite no longer leaving the walls of Stormveil Castle. Unfortunately, he was surpassed by a Tarnished fighter who obtained Godrick’s Great Rune.

After taking a brief break at a Site of Grace somewhere in the globe, the player will return to the place to see Gostoc cursing and crushing his head with his foot as the final pieces of his corpse lie on the ground.

Where Is Stormveil Castle and How To Access It

The player will come across a number of heritage dungeons on their journey to recover the Elden Ring, the first of which is Stormveil Castle. The dungeon is quite simple to locate because it is built upon the tall cliffs that are visible as soon as you leave the initial dungeon of the Stranded Graveyard next to the Divine Tower of Limegrave.

The dungeon’s entrance is a very different matter.

Start your journey by travelling eastward-pointing roads. Until you cross through the Storm Gate, stick to these roads.

You should be ready for a fierce battle against Godrick’s Soldiers and archers as you approach this ominous gate (and even the eventual arrival of a Stonediffer Troll). Particularly at this point in your game, this conflict has the potential to swiftly turn dangerous. In order to be ready, bring supplies and warmed-up controller hands. When in doubt, you can avoid the battle by riding by it on your mount or by continuing eastward until you reach the Spiritspring Jump point, where you can descend to reach Storm Hill.

Once these dangers have been eliminated, keep going up the road until you reach the entrance to the small canyon. Near the Scavenger’s Shack, where Roderika will be waiting for you, you can find a Site of Grace here. She delivers you Spirit Jellyfish Ashes, drops some information about the castle in front of you, and then finally migrates to Roundtable Hold, where she can later interact.

You are now separated from Stormveil Castle Gate by a few additional patrols. A powerful ballista that guards the front and several barricades make this fight even more difficult. After a few failed tries to fight it out the old-fashioned manner, I ultimately decided to mount up and dive past the dangers due to the extremely lethal range of this ballista. In order to minimise damage and ambush the ballista immediately before splitting the patrols into smaller groups that can be dealt with more easily, it is a wonderful idea to use the dense woods on the left as cover.

After passing through the tunnel, you will encounter one more Place of Mercy before meeting Margit the Diabolical Harbinger, who stands watch over the entrance to Stormveil Castle.

Which Remembrance Of The Grafted Weapon Is Better?

After defeating this major boss, you will get his Great Rune (which is comparable to boss souls in earlier FromSoftware games) and the highly sought-after Remembrance of the Grafted. Early in the game, it is frequently desirable to go to Enia’s location and use the Remembrance of the Grafted on one of the two potent weapons, even if you can change the item into 20,000 runes to use as you see fit in the world. Both of these weapons are immensely powerful on their own, but which one is ideal for you will depend on your build and playing style.

Axe of Godrick

It takes both strength and dexterity to wield this powerful Greataxe. Users will need 34 Strength and 22 Dexterity to wield it with one hand, which can be attained with the aid of attribute-improving talismans. This is not advised, though, as the scaling of its Strength and Dexterity would reduce the damage potential.

Due to the two-handed use of the aforementioned weapon’s 50% Strength enhancement, players can wield it with only 24 Strength.

This Greataxe emits a blast wave or tremor that harms everyone in its immediate vicinity and has the unique weapon art “I Command Thee, Kneel!” It cannot be charged, and Godrey’s Icon would not give it any more strength; however, the Shard of Alexander would increase its power.

The Godrick’s Axe is a beautiful piece of weaponry. The improvement to +10, however, is not recommended for a primary weapon because it will have a different effect than other weapons obtained later in the game when improved up to +10 or +25.

Grafted Dragon

Although it also receives some modest advantages from Dexterity and Faith, the effectiveness of this fist-style weapon mainly increases in accordance with Strength. The Grafted Dragon cannot be handled with both hands, unlike the Axe of Godrick, hence 20 Strength is required to use it. To use this weapon, one furthermore needs 16 Faith and 14 Dexterity.

“Bear Witness!” is the Grafted Dragon’s signature attack move, in which the user raises the dragon to a great height before setting off a blazing explosion in front of them. It is a poor move that does searing damage over a long period of time.

Those who don’t want to devote a lot of levels on underused stats could find the Grafted Dragon to be a wise choice. It offers a superb off-hand weapon technique that deals slow damage. Furthermore, it has a looser level requirement than the Axe of Godrick. Therefore, it might be especially useful for structures that rely on intelligence or faith.

What should I do with the Remembrance of the Grafted?

Elden Ring is a game where you may completely customise and fine-tune your builds to get the most power out of your characters. What to do with the damn thing once you’ve claimed it as your own is the remaining question after all this time. Here are the greatest moves to use after you’ve beaten the boss, along with a tiny hack.

Should I Keep It?

It’s okay to hold onto the runes even if the two weapons mentioned above don’t fit your build or playstyle at this specific time in the game. The last thing you want to do is make that decision only to have to start over with your gear because you never know when you might want to use the Remembrance when it comes time to swap builds or change up your playstyle later in the game.

Since this is your first Remembrance, I usually suggest saving it if you’re unsure.

Should I Sell It?

It’s typical to sell it for more runes. And while this can offer you a significant advantage in the early stages of the game, runes are relatively simple to gather as the game goes on. Therefore, even though 20k runes look like a lot today, they are simple to acquire afterwards.

It is therefore advisable to save runes for later usage, as indicated above, unless you have something significant to do to immediately increase your power level.

Duplicate It?!

The Remembrance can be duplicated as well.

Having dealt with it, you can recreate it as a Walking Tomb. You will be able to do this to get both incentives or to earn one reward while selling the other. However, be mindful that after duplicating a Walking Mausoleum, the tomb stops responding, indicating you have exhausted its capacity.

There aren’t many of these mausoleums still in existence. Only five of them have been identified so far; however, there may be more. To imitate a memory, you don’t have to be its owner.

This suggests that you COULD sell the Remembrance right now, but if at a later time you decide you desire one of the prizes, you could visit a burial chamber and make a copy of it.

How to get more copies of Remembrance items including the Remembrance of the Grafted?

With regard to getting more of the Remembrance consumables in Elden Ring, there are two methods. First and foremost, you can select Begin Journey 2 also known as New Game Plus after finishing the game. When this is chosen, your equipment, character, progress and other details will be transferred to a new game and the world state will be reset. Consequently, all bosses can be fought again.

Within a single save game, there is an easier way to acquire multiple Remembrances: clone them. It’s legally allowed, though limited in number, even if you’ve already used a Remembrance and no longer have it.

To clone a Remembrance, you must locate a Walking Mausoleum. These are the colossal rocky formations that pace through vast terrain in The Lands Between.

In order to access each Walking Mausoleum, you have to attack the corruptions that are connected to it and make it collapse. When this has been accomplished, you will be able to open its doors. In some cases, these corruptions can be found on the feet of the mausoleum, making them easily targetable. For others, it is necessary to find a way to ascend to and remove higher-up corruptions. It can often be prudent to clear out any nearby enemies before beginning this job as well.

You can find Walking Mausoleums in the following locations:

  • Weeping Penninsula (south of Limgrave): West, near the Church of Pilgrimage
  • Liurnia of the Lakes: In Liurnia of the Lakes, explore Uld Palace Ruins located north of the Church of Vows on a hill bordering the main lake. Additionally, there’s another spot northeast of Raya Lucaria Academy which requires Torrent and a nearby Spiritspring Jump to reach it.
  • Mountaintops of the Giants: Right outside the entrance to the mini-dungeon of Castle Sol.
  • Deeproot Depths: In the wide open area, by the ruins of another Eternal City. Climb the roots to get onto it
  • Consecrated Snowfield: North-west of the town of Ordina. This one is more aggressive; be warned.

When you enter the Walking Mausoleum, you have the opportunity to duplicate one of the Boss Remembrance items at the altar. This is only a single-time activity; there are limited Boss Remembrance items throughout the game, so make sure to choose wisely when cloning!
